Luxury lounging

If you’re looking for a special gift for the fashionista in your life, a made to order kimono could be just the thing to make your loved one’s or bestie’s Christmas this year.

Ideal for wearing as loungewear, on the beach or poolside or as a statement evening piece, Avalana Kimonos make a vibrant and versatile gift. The kimonos are available in nine stunning hand-painted designs embracing the Avalana flair for bold botanicals, big cats, birds and exotic fauna. Each kimono is made to order and delivered in a stunning presentation box for ultimate luxury. Priced at £195, Avalana Kimonos are available in size 6-24 and feature pockets and a coordinating belt.

Every single one of my existing mural designs is available as a kimono meaning that you can choose the colourway and artwork that best suits your loved one’s style. Because everything is made to order in the UK, they are a sustainable option too so ideal for anyone who wants to support independent businesses and the environment this Christmas.

Posh pottery

Customised kitchenware could make a great gift for those who love nothing more than to welcome guests round for some nibbles, cocktails or the great British brew. Opt for a personalised cheese board if gifting a couple complete with some luxurious chutneys and crackers or a named apron for a baking fan. While it’s not a traditional Christmas gift you could also treat a friend or relative to kitchenware and accessories. To make sure your gift isn’t hidden away in the cupboard, choose a striking design from a design house. Each year, Anthropolgie’s £10 Tiled Margo monogram mug sells out and I am a big fan. It’s a classic black and white old-world design inspired by French bistro tile work. You can also choose to team the mugs with a coordinating coaster, sugar bowl or salt and pepper set.

I love how homeware can stop you in your tracks, prompting you to appreciate design and that’s definitely the case with this beautifully handcrafted Casa De Folklore bowl from Liberty London. It’s a testament to the heritage and skills of generations of Romanian artisans. Handmade from raw clay extracted from Ulmet Hill, it is decorated using an age-old painting technique for a distinctive finish. (£40)

Cosy cushions

What I adore about cushions is that they are a quick and effective way to dress up your home. If you are struggling to find something for the girl that has it all, a statement cushion will guarantee to wow them when unwrapped. Forget those washy colours that might be popular right now, go for a cushion that’s exciting in design and popping with colour so it stands the test of time. It has to have feel appeal too so consider a luxury velvet material and one that has been thoughtfully crafted with intricate detail. The Avalana cushion covers are piped beautifully and digitally printed onto beautifully soft shimmer velvet fabric. Prices start at £95.

Give the gift of time

Help your friend, loved one or relative press pause for a moment. Wellness gifts are high on the agenda for me this year. After a very busy 12 months and so many friends experiencing the same sort of juggle, I feel it’s important to level up the self-care in 2023. This will relieve the brain fog and boost the creative mind. Oliver Bonas provides the ultimate escape for weary eyes with this silk eye mask made from luxury silk. Not only does it help you drift off to sleep but the silk will keep those dark circles and creases at bay. (£59).

M&S offers a great range of wellness products and gift sets. The Relax and Calm gift hamper from the retailer’s Apothecary collection features a glass reed diffuser, bath salts, a pulse point oil and bath foam. All of the products are scented with essential oils such as lavender, sweet orange, clary sage and cedar wood, which are considered to have soothing and relaxing qualities. At just £30 it’s easy on the purse strings. You can pick up single items from the range too to create your own hamper. The uplifting room spray (£8) is perfect for giving a space a little lift and looks great alongside the matching 3 wick candle (£17).

Designer phone cases

If you have a friend that can’t put down their phone then make sure they are never without an eye-catching design. There’s a host of phone cases out there to suit all tastes. The  Avalana phone case designs are created from my unique hand painted art pieces. From majestic black swans swimming on a golden lake to prowling jaguars in deep green foliage, the phone cases are a great Christmas gift choice. Or perhaps you need to gift yourself while you shop for others (just saying!).

Avalana phone cases can be created for any mobile phone, just let me know what brand and model is required during the checkout process. All phone cases are printed across the complete outer surface, feature a gorgeous gloss coating and manufactured from tough antishock material for maximum protection. The Mulberry Tigress Phone Case is always an eye catcher thanks to its rosy hues, intricate foliage and prowling tiger (£35.00)

Perfect prints and beautiful books

Art lovers rejoice, the Avalana art prints promise to offer glamour in an instant. Created from hand painted originals there’s a gift suited to every taste whether they are a bird lover, keen traveller, keen on maximalism or a big cat fanatic. All Avalana art prints are printed onto thick, luxury fine art papers and are available in three sizes. Simply pick a frame and gift to someone you know will love it on their mantle, walls, dresser or display shelf. Prices start at £35.

If you’ve been following me for a while now, you’ll know I champion maximalism and I’m most comfortable expressing my individuality with cinematic patterns and deep colour combinations. To me, more is more. BBC Interior Design Masters finalist, Siobhan Murphy, explores maximalism perfectly. She brings fearless home interiors and it’s a great lesson in banning the beige and being bold with colour for those who want to take their first steps. The book itself looks great on a coffee table. It features some of my favourite instagrammers and friends, along with my unmistakeable designs used in Siobhan’s own home. £22.86 on Amazon.

I hope you find this list useful. There are many ways you can achieve luxury for less in the home and I am hoping to cover this in a future blog post. I am involved in the Renew Hub project in Manchester which focuses on upcycling and preloved items. One man’s rubbish is certainly another person’s treasure. I’ll keep you posted.
