Client Overview

Sangam’s Indian restaurant owner Salim, wanted to redesign one of his restaurants creating a luxury dining experience for his customers. He visualised a traditional Indian theme incorporating popular cultural references such as Henna, the Patrika Gate, & Peacocks. He called on the expertise of Manchester designer, Avalana Simpson to bring his vision to life.

Why Avalana Design?

Avalana Design was first introduced to Salim after he had one of her bespoke mural designs installed at one of his restaurants in Manchester. Avalana is a talented artist and designer who hand paints all of her mural designs, so for this project and his second restaurant he chose to commision Avalana to hand paint new artwork and create a bespoke mural for a totally unique interior. 

The Design Scheme:

Designer, Avalana Simpson, designed the full interior including customer dining area, the bar & customer toilets.

Avalana commented: “Salim wanted to create a luxury dining experience for his customers and have the interior reflect his Indian cuisine. After we agreed on the elements in which I needed to paint and had the artwork ready to go, I began digitally creating his bespoke mural design. Inspired by Indian culture the design showcases proud peacocks sitting amongst the jungle foliage and the Patrika Gate glows against the golden background as the sun sets.”

“The design was installed throughout the main dining area & customer toilets creating a cohesive interior and an escapism for diners. In the toilets the mural was installed onto the cubicle doors to add interest,  these could then be reflected at the wash basin, projecting more of the design around the room and making the space feel even bigger. Gold panelling, wash basins and tiles were used to compliment the mural and add luxury. These gold accents were then brought through to the main bar which had a revamp of structure for increased practicality.”

“Instagrammable selfies’ are free promotion for the hospitality industry, the interior decor is what intrigues people to visit and the cuisine gets them to return. We wanted to create maximum impact on first impression and somewhere that customers would want to return to time and time again.

“In terms of styling, I advised on indoor planters with lots of greenery to reflect the theme and the dining booths were elevated using decorative lighting to add ambience”
